Nutrient Management Planning Tools available from: Vermont NRCS

The following document requires Microsoft Excel

Vermont Manure Screening Tool   NOTE: Prior to using this tool, download the file to the local computer.

The Vermont Manure Screening Tool is an Excel spreadsheet designed to assist conservation planners, landowners or land users in making initial resource inventory assessments, specifically for making a rough determination about the nutrient status of a farm, and flagging deficiencies or excesses of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. It may also be used to predict the nutrient impact of expansion in animal units, additional acreage purchases, crop changes, or additions of off-farm nutrients. It is not intended to be used to make fertilizer recommendations or to perform other nutrient management tasks.

Soil Sample Instructions

The reliability of a soil test is only as good as the sample you submit.  The small amount of soil in the sample bag you send to the Agricultural Testing Lab must represent the entire area to be fertilized.  Follow these instructions to ensure the reliability of your soil sample results.
