Resource Management SystemsWhy Use Resource Management Systems?Resource Management Systems (RMS) are sets of approved conservation practices which, when properly planned and applied, work in tandem to provide environmental conservation and protection for Soil, Water, Air, Plant and Animal resources. The information available from this page provides a general overview of conservation practices which are commonly planned and applied in Vermont to achieve a high level of protection for natural resources. Depending upon the severity of resource concerns found during the resource assessment, one or more of the practices listed for each resource system below are typically offered as conservation planning alternatives. In addition, a conservation practice applied to the landscape generally benefits multiple resources.
