Mississquoi Watershed Eligible for Conservation Security Program

Colchester, vt…State Conservationist Judith Doerner today announced that the Mississquoi River Watershed will be eligible for the 2007 Conservation Security Program (CSP). Eligible watersheds are being announced now to allow farmers adequate time to gather resource information on their operations in preparation for a prospective sign-up.

NRCS' Conservation Security Program rewards producers who meet the highest standards of conservation on their operations. CSP is a voluntary program that provides financial and technical assistance to promote the conservation and improvement of soil, water, air, energy, plant and animal life, and other conservation purposes on private working lands. Working lands include cropland, grassland, prairie land, improved pasture and range land, as well as forested land that is an incidental part of an agriculture operation.
