Vermont NRCS Makes Information Available to Vegetable Producers

The Northeast Kingdom Farm and Food Summit was held at Lyndon State College on April 2, 2011 as a way to promote healthy, secure, affordable and locally-grown food within our region. Another goal of this meeting was to ensure farmers and agricultural based businesses have reliable and efficient access to local and regional markets. There were 165 attendees at the summit that provided an excellent outreach opportunity to spread the word about USDA programs.

Nick Comerci from the St. Johnsbury NRCS office attended the event and had a display booth.  The display was targeted to vegetable growers - a rapidly expanding sector in the Vermont agricultural scene. Conference attendees we able to obtain information on NRCS and FSA programs that will be helpful to vegetable producers in Vermont.
